Well, It's the day after the adoption and we are still a little sad. Princess went for $1650 and we only had $1500. It's o.k. though, we don't need another horse and I think she went to good home. A lady bought her and she will be this lady's first horse. The lady has grown kids so I'm sure Princess will be spoiled a little bit! And she is coming home with us for a little while to be boarded with us. We finested 10th and won $100. I also was awarded the Sportsmanship award by the other trainers and received $500 for that! That was so neat it meant so much to me that the other trainers thought that much of me. We will be heading home tonight after a very long weekend. Thanks all for coming along with us on our journey. I will try to keep this blog going for awhile.

Don't feel too bad. I didn't get my first horse until I was...53 years YOUNG! I waited all my life for my first horse and it wasn't until both of our grown children were GONE and out of our home that I adopted Sunni, a yearling PMU gelding. Now I have 4 additional horses...2 BLM fillies and 2 feedlot mares who were awaing shipment to slaughter. I'm sure Princess will have a good home! You did well! I've been following your blog. Will you get to visit her?
I'm kind of sad that you didn't end up with Princess. But things have a way of working out the way they are meant to be. Will you adopt and train another one again? Just think, you are doing such a great thing by promoting the Mustang breed...and introducing it to others. How amazing this woman's first horse will be a Mustang! ;)
Congratulations...you've worked very hard for this and have done a great job with Princess. She brought a good price, which you should be proud of too...bittersweet that you didn't get to take her home as your own.
I hope you do keep this blog going.
really enjoy your posts and love your style.. funny how you can folow a blog for so long and start to feel you know the person like they are your neighbor.. lol congrats in your competition and your sportsmans award... that in itself tells alot about a person.. we try to keep up on our blog everyday and are starting to get nervous about our competition coming up in april at the midwest horse fair.. hope you tune in and wish us luck GREAT JOB
I've been following your blog from the beginning. Princess looked great at the competition and you did a wonderful job with her. I was very sad that you didn't get to bring her home, but perhaps that means you can change another mustangs life for the better? Congratulations on making the top 10!!! And on the award!!!
Kevin and Lisa, I'm so sorry you weren't able to bring Princess home. But you'll at least be able to be there for her new owner and support her...and should she give up, then we know you'll be first in line :)
I wish you'd gotten Princess, but I'm sure she's gone to a good home. And now she'll get to help a woman learn about how wonderful horses are, and that woman and her kids will always remember Princess as THE First Horse -- a very special honor!
Congratulations on doing so well! It must have been very exciting and satisfying to see all of your hard work pay off.
